Kayu sengon menghasilkan kayu ringan. Banyak dimanfaatkan khususnya di kontruksi ringan, karena harganya yang terjangkau. Sambungan kayu merupakan bagian terlemah dari suatu kontruksi kayu. Uji eksperimental ini memperlajari sambungan gerser tunggal menggunakan 3 jenis pengencang yang berbeda yaitu baut, paku, sekrup. Peraturan yang digunakan SNI 7973:2013. Pengujian eksperimental mengacu pada ASTM D2395-02, ASTM D143, ASTM D143-09, ASTM D5764. Hasil pengujian berat jenis rata-rata sebesar 0,31 g/m3 ; nilai rata-rata kadar air sebesar 16,81%; nilai kerapatan rata-rata sebesar 360,44 kg/m3 ; nilai kekuatan geser rata-rata sebesar 1,15 MPa; nilai tarik sejajar serat 23,04 MPa ; kekuatan tegak lurus serat rata-rata sebesar 1,67 MPa. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan sambungan geser tunggal empiris dan uji hasil eksperimental memiliki rasio 1,265 untuk baut , 1,664 untuk paku, 1,240 untuk sekrup.
