Perubahan garis pantai merupakan indikator penting dinamika wilayah pesisir yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor alami maupun aktivitas manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perubahan garis pantai di pesisir Kota Semarang selama periode 2016–2024 menggunakan algoritma Machine Learning Random Forest dan metode Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) berbasis citra Sentinel-2A. Data citra multispektral Sentinel-2A diolah pada platform Google Earth Engine, dengan tahapan utama meliputi perhitungan Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), klasifikasi dua kelas (air dan daratan) menggunakan algoritma Random Forest, serta ekstraksi garis pantai. Garis pantai yang dihasilkan dianalisis dengan membuat transek untuk menghitung nilai Net Shoreline Movement (NSM), End Point Rate (EPR) dan Linear Regression Rate (LRR) pada DSAS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan luas perairan sebesar ±494,33 ha dan penurunan luas daratan sebesar ±500,19 ha dalam delapan tahun. Perubahan ini menandakan adanya pergeseran garis pantai ke arah darat yang menunjukkan abrasi atau genangan yang kian meluas di wilayah pesisir Kota Semarang. Analisis DSAS menghasilkan nilai rata-rata LRR sebesar -6,03 m/tahun, EPR -8,60 m/tahun, dan NSM -67,10 meter, yang menegaskan tren abrasi dominan. Hasil validasi klasifikasi Random Forest menunjukkan nilai F1-Score untuk kelas air dan daratan rata-rata lebih dari 90%, yang menandakan performa model yang sangat baik dan memperkuat keandalan klasifikasi. Hasil ini diperkuat dengan hasil validasi lapangan yang menunjukkan kosistensi adanya pola abrasi dengan nilai DSAS di beberapa titik observasi. Kombinasi metode klasifikasi Random Forest dan DSAS terbukti efektif dalam mendeteksi dan mengukur perubahan garis pantai secara spasial dan temporal. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pemantauan garis pantai berbasis citra satelit dan analisis spasial yang relevan untuk wilayah pesisir yang dinamis seperti Kota Semarang.

Shoreline change is a critical indicator of coastal dynamics influenced by natural processes and human activities. This study aim to identify changes in the shoreline changes along the northern coast of Semarang City from 2016 to 2024 using the Random Forest algorithm and the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) method, based on Sentinel-2A imagery. The multispectral Sentinel-2A data were processed on the Google Earth Engine platform. The processing pipeline entailed several steps, including the calculation of the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), the implementation of a Random Forest classification algorithm to classifying between water and land classes, and extracting shorelines for each observation year. The results shoreline was analyzed by creating transects to calculate the Net Shoreline Movement (NSM), End Point Rate (EPR), and Linear Regression Rate (LRR) values in DSAS. The results indicate that there has been an increase in water area of approximately ±494.33 hectares and a decrease in land area of ±500.19 hectares over a period of eight years. These changes indicate a shift in the coastline toward the land, suggesting an increase in abrasion and inundation in the coastal areas of Semarang City. The DSAS analysis yielded average values of the LRR at –6.03 meters per year, the EPR at –8.60 meters per year, and the NSM at –67.10 meters, thereby confirming a dominant trend of shoreline retreat. The validation results of the Random Forest classification showed an F1-Score for water and land classes averaging over 90%, indicating excellent model performance and reinforcing the reliability of the classification. These results are further supported by field validation findings showing consistency between erosion patterns and DSAS values at several observation points. The integration of the Random Forest classification method and DSAS has demonstrated efficacy in detecting and quantifying spatial and temporal variations in the shoreline. This study makes a significant contribution to the field of shoreline monitoring by employing satellite imagery and spatial analysis, with particular relevance to dynamic coastal regions such as Semarang City.
