Keberadaan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) Rumah Sakit Al Islam yang telah beroperasi sejak tahun 1997 merupakan wujud pelaksanaan peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup No.53/MENLH/12/1995 yang mengharuskan bagi setiap Rumah sakit untik mengolah limbah cairnya. IPAL RS Al Islam ini terdiri dari saluran pembawa dan bar screen, bak ekualisasi, bak aerasi, bak clarifier, dan hak penampung efluen. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi melalui kegiatan sampling, pengukuran, dan perhitungan, maka diketahui bahwa permasalahan terjadi pada setiap unit. Pada bar screen terjadi kekurangan kecepatan aliran: kekurangan volume pada unu ekualisası; kekurangan umur lumpur, nutrisi, dan kelebihan rasio F/M dan Or/Q pada reaktor biologi (aerasi); kekurangan overflowrate dan solid loading pada bak clarifter, dan tingginya kadar coliform pada efluen. Permasalahan tersebut pula yang menyebabkan kadar TSS, NH3 bebas, dan PO sebagai parameter intı dalam peraturan MENLH (Lampiran B- terbaru) belum memenuhi baku mutu tersebut. Untuk itu diupayakan suatu rencana perbaikan terhadap kinerja proses pengolahan air limbah untuk mencapai kondisi lingkungan proses yang ideal dan kapasitas yang sesuai dengan fluktuast aliran. Rencana perbaikan mencakup penambahan unit comminutor dan ekualisasi, penambahan kadar gerisi, penambahan unit Sudge Drying Bed, dan melakukan khlorıması pada bak kontak yang telah tersedia. Ketersediaan lahan menjadi pembatas dalam pelaksanaan perbaikan secara keseluruhan. Namun demikian tetap dirancang pula upaya perbaikan minimal yang hanya mencakup perbaikan lingkungan proses tanpa harus adanya pembebasan lahan untuk peletakan unit ekualisasi dan unit sludge drying bed.

The treatment waste water instalation of Al Islam hospital consits of carier channel and bar screen, equalization basin, aeration basin, clarifier basin and intercept basin efluent. Based on the result of evaluation through sampling activity, measurement and calculation, it can be said that the problem focused on every unit. In screen basin there are the lack of flow velocity, the lack of volume in every equalization unit, the lack of mud age, nutrition, and the overflow of F/M ratio and Qr/Q to the biology reactor (aeration), the lack of overflowrate and solid loading of clarifier basin, and the heightening of cloriform degree at efluent. This problem also caused the TSS, NH,, and PO, degree as the main parameter in the role of MENLH (the latest-3 attachment) has not fulfilled the standard quality of it. In this case, some effort has been striving for the enhancement planning to the performance process of waste water treatment to gain a better enviroment process and the exact capacity with the flow fluktuation. The enhancement planning has embraced comminutor unit increment, nutrition degree increment, sludge drying bed unit increment, and elhorinating to the contact basin which exist. The land localization is the border in the enhancement project in general. Even so, the minimal enhancement effort has still on designing which consist of the fixing enviromental process without any land exemption to put the equalization unit and sludge drying bed unit.
