<note>perencanaan konstruksi gedung-gedung bertingkat tinggi dapat menggunakan konstruksi baja maupun konstruksi beton, ataupun menggunakan konstruksi komposit dimana dasar pemikirannya adalah menggabungkan kedua bahan baja dan beton menjadi suatu kesatuan sehingga kelemahan bahan baja maupun bahan beton dapat diperkecil dan keuntungan dari bahan-bahan tesebut dapat dimaksimalkan.
Pada skripsi ini tidak akan dibahas semua struktur komposit, tetapi hanya akan dibahas mengenai kolom komposit karena kolom merupakan bagian struktur yang penting pada sebuah bangunan, dimana keruntuhan kolom akan berakibat fatal terhadap bangunan dan dapat menghancurkan seluruh struktur.
Dan sebagai kesimpulannya, penulis memberi suatu usulan metode perencanaan yang praktis untuk dipakai berdasarkan perbandingan metode-metode perencanaan kolom komposit.
