EVALUASI ERGONOMI PADA PROSES WELDING DAN CUTTING DI PT. CILEGON FABRICATOR
PT. Cilegon Fabricator is a steel fabrication company located in the Province of Banten, Indonesia. In this study, identification of awkward postures within the fabrication process were carried out in the welding and cutting stations. Awkward postures may results in fatigue, injury or accident, and causing Musculo-skeletal Disorders (MSDs). MSDs is a chronic disease of the muscles, tendons, and nerves due to repetitive motion, fast motion, using a high-power, contact stress, extreme postures, vibration, and/or low temperature. Observation was used to identify awkward postures during work, interviews using Nordic Body Map questionnaires were done to get complaints and pain felt by workers. The most suffering workers were selected to be measured using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). The scores were then used to determine the level of risk, and the needed level of corrective actions. There were 30 cases of awkward postures, namely squatting, bowing/bending, and improper standing. Based on the assessment using REBA, the squatting position resulted in the highest skor of 11, which is interpreted as a very high level of risk of developing MSD, such that a change of working conditions is needed immediately. Meanwhile, the interview using the Nordic Body questionnaires show that severe pain were felt in the waist, buttocks, upper neck, and calves, which were in conformance to the REBA method of scoring. It was recommended to eliminate squatting postures by engineering method such that working conditions become ergonomics.
